So invasive is the onslaught of sounds and smells, that you only start to notice it when it's gone. Excellent production adds an edgy-ness and color to the simple song format. Based on the acappella vocal track of Lisa de Benedictis's "Below", I first jammed along with an electric bass, then added bongoes and guitar to get the core of the song up and running. After that, it was mainly a question creating the structure of the song. I felt the song should be going somewhere, that it should build-up to a stronger beat. It would have been nice to spend some more time, re-recording parts and mixing, but times-up!

There seems to be about entries to the contest, of which they are selecting 10 winners, and there is some amazingly good stuff there, so you won't see me on the podium, but I enjoyed the challenge. The much shortened radio edit of "Peter Tong", featuring the excellant vocals of Jerry Allen, transforms this dance track into something much more accessible This song documents an event on the island of Ibiza last summer.

After sitting around on the beach all afternoon, playing guitars and bongoes and Org-D2 - No Artist - Sound Pool (Deep House / Progressive House) (CD) local and imported produce, we thought we'd get a taxi into town and catch Peter Tong's set a famous DJ, and more famous now that he has a film named after himand try and get him to play a demo of one of our songs.

He wouldn't of course. Anyway, that's the story behind this song: it starts out on the beach, the sun going down, taxi to a club I don't think it was Space - prob. Pacha - but that makes for a better lyricback to the beach in the wee small hours. Another strange one from the mystical island of Ibiza. The track started life as a normal ballad, called "Something New", and we were like just strumming along on the beach one evening, thinking no bad thoughts at all, when this fella turns up, and starts singing his own words over it: "Otay, otay, don't you worry, everythings gonna be otay!

Now here's the funny thing, his name was Frankie Wilde, and he'd been on the island a good few years, doing some Dj'ing and stuff, then this movie comes out about him and whilst there are some similarities, its definitely made-up. Also, for remixers, a synth-only track is available. Music style is inspired mostly by Phil Collins like his songs from the movie Tarzanwith other rock and ethnic influences as well.

So how is it? In one of their boldest moves ever, the next mix will now be produced by the infamous recluse Burial.

As with every record in the DJ-Kicks series, the mix will see a brand new track produced exclusively for the mix series. Burial has defied critics by attracting a wide audience to the niche market that is dubstep, and has managed to produce one of the biggest albums of with playing no shows, and rarely doing any interviews.

The official press statement states:! The South London producer is notoriously shy of press and public performances, yet his last two albums on the Kode 9 Hyperdub label have established him as one of the global leaders in this exploding scene on word-of-mouth alone. Kersten's work as Sten sees him jettison the broad cinematic brushstrokes of the Lawrence project in favour of a more detailed, abstract yet functional club sound. His love of classic Detroit techno, not to mention texture-obsessed twentieth century composers like Arvo Part and Krysztof Komeda, is apparent in the brittle, ghostly melodies that inhabit his snappy minimal rhythms; the rhythms themselves demonstrate his consummate understanding of what it takes to hypnotize a dancefloor.

The Essence is nothing less than impressive - Kersten, a supremely talented producer, never truly disappoints - but its austerity can be a little draining on the home listener. Each of the nine tracks comprising The Essence will serve DJs and dancefloors well, but they fail to convince as a coherent album-length statement, and it's difficult not to find oneself comparing the experience, unfavourably, to Lawrence's two melodious, boundlessly imaginative LPs for NovaMute, The Absence of Blight and The Night Will Last Forever It's ok nothing great hows the mixin?

The two tracks released as lyric videos ahead of the album release -- Born in Dissonance and Nostrum -- were good, but they didn't stand out.

The humor aspect also loses something over repeated listens, although I still laugh uncontrollably during Couldn't Hear Nobody Pray. I also hope this isn't the last Birdsongs album, because this would really be a low note to go out on. There is really nothing for prog fans to grab onto here, other than, perhaps, the mixing of two things that usually aren't mixed.

Needless to say, if you don't like your lyrics to be saturated with Christian themes, don't even think about this record. Similarly, if you like your music smooth and consonant, you could skip this one as well.

Really, this is only for fans of the band who want to hear them in another light. A good idea that wasn't executed as well as it could have been. The only elements reminiscent of their punk past is the short and snappy nature of the tracks presented. And of course the anarchistic attitude towards music which is as strong in RIO as it is in punk.

The quality of the pieces is a bit of a problem though. The opening 15 minutes that are vibrant and sweeping, but from Chariots of Fire onwards, the pace slows down and the musicianship gets more subdued. It's an almost ambient and minimalistic style that doesn't seem to fit the band too well and doesn't produce much memorable material.

The title track tries to stir things up again but the damage is done. The album shrinks to mere background music, which is not what you want from your RIO.

And liked their peculiar style, which is why I wanted to know more about them. A couple of weeks ago I found this self titled EP, which is actually their first release ever, so here the roots of the band can be appreciated. This EP was released in and features only five songs, with a total time of 16 minutes. What you will find here, is a combination of avant-garde music with some kind of post-punk, interesting.

And that can be heard since the very first song "Sound Valentine" where a piano sound appears along with some kind of electronic drums, creating a tense atmosphere that in moments turns dark, the song is short and the structure is the same, but sounds interesting.

Let me tell you that here you will find a purely instrumental album. The next three songs are really short; they do not reach the 3 minutes. First there is "Transformation of Oz" where a piano and a farfisa appear interplaying with those electronic drums; it could be used as a soundtrack of either a terror or a science fiction movie.

Next is "Drift" whose sound is softer and gentler in the first minute, later a kind of synth enters and adds some strange noises as background, creating again a nervous or tense atmosphere. And this EP finishes with its longest song six minutes entitled "Triassic Album) Cretaceous" which again has that electronic drums that actually remind me to some Tuxedomoon passages.

It is one of the few cd's that i can listen to straight through. The song Powerslave is a classic and the album is def. I don't know exactly what to think about this album. Simply because, IMHO, only the songs listed below as "best" plus closing Rime of the ancient mariner are really above average. They are all more than brilliant enough for the high rating.

I have nothing but good to say about it, and it's the task of ages for following 2 minutes to midnight to succeed it with dignity. And it does not let down! Awesome lyrics and a main riff similar to Accept's Flash rockin' man but not quite make it another timeless Maiden classic. After that promising due the album plummets in quality. Losfer words, as the title implies, is an instrumental, and a darn weak such.

Unlike Transylvania or Genghis Khan, it has no climax or clear focal point, which could be considered a mortal sin for instrumentals. Flash of the blade should've been the instrumental here it's only decent during the breaks, and Bruce is downright annoying.

The other mid-tracks, The duellists shameless Where eagles dare-clone and Back in the village, I often skip as well although the latter is pretty good.

I somehow get the feeling these four middle songs are very Album) - fillers if you like - and whose only purposes are to show off some supposedly neat guitar lines. Oh well, the last two tracks pick up where the first two left off, starting with the absolutely brilliant title track, Dickinson's successor to his own Revelations.

A moody and indeed powerful piece, like Revelations heavily inspired by Egyptian mythology - even more brilliant in conjunction with the wonderful cover art! Rime of the ancient mariner is another classic, truly excellent at parts, but a few minutes too long for my liking. Speaking quality not stylistically The Duellists - Iron Maiden - Powerslave (Cassette, this is the most inconsistent Maiden album, and only four great songs is not enough for the highest rating.

Nevertheless, 2 minutes to midnight, Mariner and the title track are undeniable cornerstones in the Maiden palace, and Aces high rocks all over the place. As for the rest, I might just be missing the point. Best songs: Aces high; Powerslave; 2 minutes to midnight.

Just over number of the beast With aces high my favorite song and 2 minutes to midnight another great song its my favorite album. Ive heard people say that a lot of the songs are just fillers but the worst song on it i think is back in the villige which isnt even that bad.

Thats right!! Coming straight from the USA, I must review this Album as it being an excellent classic of i think Iron Maiden's most successful releases. I Album) enjoy listening to this album as it being my very first Iron Maiden material that I actually bought back when i was 13 or so, I bought this on cassette at that. So yes i heard this album over and over and then i was hooked! The riffs and bass on here are excellent as always, great melodies and vocals as well.

Dimitra is a year-old guitar virtuoso. A young girl raised in classical music with her diplomas and everything hahaha. We hope she gives us the extra boost we need right now. She has energy and her perspective on music will take us to the extra mile. We could describe them as mixture of noise rock and experimental sounds. Hopeful and full of energy as it Let Em Hang - Various - Essential Underground Hip-Hop 2 (CD), we expect a continuation commensurate with their capabilities.

The positive side of the current pandemic is a lot of free time. Are you preparing songs for a new album? Will it be in a similar atmosphere to your last album or are you trying to look for new sounds? Will the new songs be darker or will we rather hear more melodies? Yes, to be precise, you are succeeding at a point where we are slowly gathering our ideas to move on to the basic ideas of the songs on our next album.

We collect pictures, lyrics, read books and look for information about periods that interest us historically. We will try to create something completely different again.

Our ambition is to trace the previous century, perhaps the most violent in human history. We study large chapters of history such as the two World Warsthe famine of Ukraine and Indiathe Iron Curtain period and the Cold War fearthe building of cities such as Nowa Hutathe exploration of Antarctica and the Conquest of space are so many that stigmatized the world we were born into.

It is a really interesting project because the views of each other differ and we think that it is really daring to try to give something with such historical weight but at the same time balance. We do not know if we can promise something audio since depending on how the material will look to us we will make the corresponding changes. How do you spend your time during lockdown? Are you working? Have you found time to do things that you never had time to do? Overdue books, films, planned cleanups?

For our good luck almost all of us work and this is something that helped us keep a routine in our daily lives. To a large extent we tried to stay away from the tv and the insanity of social media. We found time and maybe the appetite and energy, if you prefer to read things that we might not have been able to do under different circumstances. Either way, maybe something good came out of the whole adventure.

Who knows,; life itself will show. Tell us about the Greek scene. We are more interested in the music scene from the 80s and 90s related to post punk, dark wave, new wave, cold wave. Which Greek bands influenced your band? Which of these bands do you consider the most important in Greek music?

Which DIY bands would you recommend to us? The bands of Creep Records. Surely you can find several of them in our pieces. We respect a lot of bands from the D. However, this has never stopped us from making decisions that express us and make us feel good about ourselves.

There can be no big "We" unless there is a healthy "I" first. We can not be unhappy with following an informal code of operation with Let Em Hang - Various - Essential Underground Hip-Hop 2 (CD) we do not always agree.

We have never apologized for any of our choices before and we do not think we will in the future. In any case, we are all judged by the time and the consequences of our choices. We do not want to be nostalgic for the past.

Every season has its heroes and every season gives birth to quality bands and releases. Do you know any Polish groups from those years? Do you know any Polish bands at all? Of course. It is impossible not to recognize the value of bands like Siekiera and Brigada Kryzys. Especially the first ones we think are one of the most emblematic and special - musically and not only - of the European Sound.

We would also single out No Smoking and whose vinyl was found recently hahaha. Of course, we have to admit that our first ear-contact with the Polish scene was much later and with a not so post punk band. I am referring, of course, to Homomilitia and a little later to Filth of Mankind. I also have a personal question A lot of people on the European DIY scene are vegetarians and vegans, while in Greece they are still very few. What is it related to?

With Greek culture, with traditional cuisine? For you, is the fight for animal rights and not eating meat important aspects of an independent culture? In recent years a great effort has been made to promote this type of diet the vegan one. Nevertheless, we all understand that as a country, Greece is behind in this part. Maybe it's our fault that our diet is directly related to the consumption of meat, fish and their derivatives.

In the part of D. As a band we have experimented from time to time studying different habits. Some of us even went vegan or vegetarian but it did not prove that we were strong enough to hold on.

However, we believe that the exploitation of animals, especially to the extent that it is done by modern man, leads to major changes which are related to climatic, social and not only consequences. Jun 28, John Byrnes rated it it was amazing. I miss Mark Fisher in a way I thought not possible for a man I've never met and never could have met along all probable pathways. Ghosts of My Life is partially examination of cultural artifacts - of albums and music and television shows and movies.

On a deeper level it is using the ontology of hauntology to discuss the ghosts that trap contemporary society in recursive loops, the loops that make the artic monkeys sound less innovative in the now than earlier eras of rock might have seemed. On a I miss Mark Fisher in a way I thought not possible for a man I've never met and never could have met along all probable pathways. On a simple level this book is about nostalgia by a man so gripped by desperation for a new world to be possible that he is no longer in the worse world that exists, but on others these essays offer a potential for looking at the ways and times that recursion begins, that anti-revolutionary systems celebrate stagnation and prevent change.

But the reliance of current artists on styles that were established long ago suggests that the current moment is in the grip of a formal nostalgia, of which more shortly. It is not that nothing happened in the period when the slow cancellation of the future set in. On the contrary, those thirty years has been a time of massive, traumatic change. In the UK, the election of Margaret Thatcher had brought to an end the uneasy compromises of the so-called postwar social consensus. The shift into so-called Post-Fordism — with globalization, ubiquitous computerization and the casualisation of labour — resulted in a complete transformation in the way that work and leisure were organised.

In the last ten to fifteen years, meanwhile, the internet and mobile telecommunications technology have altered the texture of everyday experience beyond all recognition. Or it could be that, in one very important sense, there is no present to grasp and articulate anymore. As the depressive withdraws from the vacant confections of the lifeworld, he unwittingly finds himself in concordance with the human condition so painstakingly diagrammed by a philosopher like Spinoza: he sees himself as a serial consumer of empty simulations, a junky hooked on every kind of deadening high, a meat puppet of the passions.

The depressive cannot even lay claim to the comforts that a paranoiac can enjoy, since he cannot believe that the strings are being pulled by any one.

Tom Waits didn't get to where he is today — gruff, dissolute American cult hero — by playing nice. After posting some lyrics on his website in June, Waits recently announced the release of his first new album in seven years. He then invited his eager public to " a private online listening party ". During the "party", Waits cut things short after a couple of snippets, when a phone call informed him that the internet is, apparently, rife with bad apples likely to leak his material.
